Synopsis

Managing work-life balance can lead to burnout complaints, especially for young entrepreneurs. Diminishing self-care practices is a sign of burnout complaints. At the same time, these practices are a professional imperative to maintain well-being. Meflex is an AI-enabled artifact designed to support moments of inner work to maintain well-being. The mirror interacts with the user through physical movement based on the theory of perceptual crossing. Furthermore, the mirror is augmented through a data visualization layer. These visualizations use various sources of (biometric) user data as an input in an effort to predict stress levels.

Reflection

The Meflex project was rough at times. With 5 people from completely different background, it was not always easy to see eye to eye. Personally, I think my communication towards teammates could have been clearer. Additionally, it has taught me to be more strict with deadlines and task division. Someone here was not carrying their weight, and as a result, it dragged the whole group down (including myself). These lessons have been applied in other group project I have done.

The project taught me about perceptual crossing, a concept that fit quite well with my love for slow technology (at the time). Additionally, I learned how to use TouchDesigner, a powerful tool to visually script programs that run on the GPU.
